About ZBT The Alpha Kappa chapter of Zeta Beta Tau was founded in 1916 at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Our house is located at 233 Langdon Street, right off campus and in the middle of Wisconsin's social scene. In order to provide an organization for Jewish students who were excluded from joining existing fraternities because of sectarian practices, Richard J. H. Gottheil founded the first Zionist youth society which came to be known as ZBT. Since then, the fraternity has instituted a non-discriminatory policy making any male student of good character eligible for membership. Our fraternity has a legacy of acceptance, philanthropy, academic achievement, leadership, and brotherhood; and our chapter is known for having an extremely tight brotherhood, the biggest parties on campus, elegant formals, and unforgettable events with sororities.
Perfect Size Zeta Beta Tau at the University of Wisconsin is a mid-size fraternity with membership ranging from 50-60 brothers. This enables us to throw great social and philanthropy events and be deeply involved in the Greek and UW communities; yet, at the same time, we are small enough to maintain a tight sense of brotherhood.
National Connections Zeta Beta Tau is one of the most connected fraternities at the University of Wisconsin. With brothers from Los Angeles to New York, the Twin Cities to Miami, Chicago to Washington DC, and everywhere in between, these connections continue to help after college with finding jobs and settling into new cities. ZBT brothers are brothers for life. |
